Cem's 40 DAY retirement celebrations continues. On March 22 the retirement as well as his 64 Birthday was celebrated with Durupinars and Esra&Scott at Cafe Ephesus in Dublin. (see the two pictures below from that night)
A day after his retirement, Ozmerals of Columbus drove to Chicago and on Saturday March 26 , Matt and Asli arranged for a party at Matt's new restaurant. Not only had they the luxury of the private party room, but a limo took them for the 45 minute ride to Naperville. , They celebrated the night with Ozmerals of Buffalo Grove( Mustafa, Kathy ,Berk Julide) and their good friends from Naperville, Ercan (Q7), and Asuman Alp. A different Limousine took them back to Yorkville at the end of the night.
Cem, thanks Matt and Asli for arranging the party, the limo ride and the bottle of Efe, Mustafa and Kathy for the black and white Nike, indoor soccer shoes and the Alps for the pictures and the copy of the " Çarşı" article in the New Yorker. And of course for the Apple I pad from the family.
Looks like, the 40 day celebration will continue in Boston at the end of April. Cenan has arranged for the travel of the three brothers to meet in Boston for a nostalgic get together where once their father went to school. (M.I.T.)
Last night we had a great night at Ruth's Chris Steak House at my retirement dinner in Indianapolis. I like to thank our Vice President David Webb, our District Manager Jerome Kelley for organizing this event and all of my friends; General Managers of District 21 of the Golden Corral Family, who have attended this dinner. Thank you for the clock and for all of the other beautiful gifts and cards. I like to also thank Mr. Ted Fowler and Mr. Lance Trennary for their personal and phone calls and cards.
I will miss all of you and I will miss Golden Corral.

Guess What?
Hi everyone! We wanted to share some really exciting news with you (if you don’t already know)!!!
Guess what?
Dad is retiring in March! His official retirement date is on March 23rd 2011. We are so proud of him and his hard work all these years! We are even more excited to see him spending a little more time sleeping in, relaxing, writing books & stories and doing what he wants to do. We can’t believe this day has finally come and we couldn’t be happier for him!
We do know that mom has already started his “daily” TO DO lists around the house. This could get pretty interesting because she still has a couple of years left before her retirement...Oh no for dad! From what he tells us, he is going to become a little housewife who is very busy…in charge of making dinner every night, taking out the trash, making the beds-daily, cleaning house (yeah right), doing bills, going grocery shopping and all the little things that he got out of doing for so many years! Cengiz is also living with them full time now so it looks like he'll become Cengiz’s personal assistant which will probably include daily trips to McDonalds J and enjoying ice-cream every night!
Since family life has been a little chaotic for everyone, we have decided not do a retirement party but the good news is that mom, dad & Cengiz are planning on coming to Illinois two days after he retires which ends up being the weekend before my spring break. Perfect timing! Uncle Mustafa & Aunt Kathy & kids, we are probably going for pizza at a local pizza place in Naperville that Saturday night. You are all welcome to join us!
Other then that, we look forward to seeing how this goes for him... Yesterday when he called me for the third time (lately the phone calls have really increased), he said he was buying “workout gear” for when he retires…Wow…dad is going to workout?! We can’t wait to see this. Poor Taylor has also been forced to listen to Turkish Lullabies through Skype and he is singing Turkish songs to her every night. Last night she said “No more Dede!” This could get pretty interesting….
One last thing..Check out this website, http://www.istanbullite.com/ilog/march2011.html, Dad included parts of his retirement letter and some pictures of himself throughout his career. It’s very special and we think you will enjoy it!
Lots of Hugs n Kisses – XOXO!
Congratulations Dad!
Esra, Asli & Taylor

A RETIREMENT ANNOUNCEMENT MARCH 23, 2011
From the resignation letter:
................." I have an eighteen month old granddaughter and another one on the way, with whom I like to spend more time with and enjoy more of the sunshine.
I am in my seventeenth year with Golden Corral and sixteenth year at the Dublin location. In my earlier years fresh out of College, I served in Turkey in the Military, the compulsory draft. The next two years I toured Anatolia, the mainland of Turkey, and worked as a young bank auditor. I realized the job was not for me and decided to come to the United States, for graduate studies at Penn State. After completing my degree I worked briefly in the Insurance industry and switched to restaurant business later on. I spent sixteen years with one company in Baton Rouge, Louisiana: as Manager, District Manager, Vice President and finally as a Franchisee. Now looking back at my career, I wish I knew Golden Corral in 1978 and had not spent sixteen years for another company.
Golden Corral was where I started a new beginning in 1994. I was forty six years of age with my own store and full control of my destiny, which I of course liked. I took over the restaurant which was loosing $400,000 a year with only $28,000 sales a week. Although, the Dublin Store never became the super star, we were able to more than double the sales and the store became profitable in only a few years. And during these sixteen years with my stable management team, we have trained more than one hundred fifty Managers for Golden Corral. This was one of my biggest satisfactions, I enjoyed every minute of it.
Now the time has come. As of today, I would like to give my eleven weeks notice to resign from my job to retire at the end of period three on March 23, 2011"................
